Last summer, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to intern with the Human Rights Campaign at their national headquarters in Washington, DC. HRC is the nation's largest LGBTQ civil rights group, that consistently leads the way in the fight for full LGBTQ equality both in the U.S. and abroad.

The Bright Futures 'Unpaid Internship' Scholarship awards students with need-based scholarships ranging from $250-$1,250 to help offset expenses incurred during unpaid internships. If you're an undergraduate student who has secured an unpaid summer 2017 internship with a non-profit organization or government agency, you are eligible to apply!  This semester's deadline falls on April 24 at 5 p.m. (not midnight!).


When building your resume, you’ll find that there are certain experiences that share a unique transitive factor that makes them difficult to organize into specific sections. The crossover between these sections means there is a flexibility as to how you may choose to organize your resume. The most common way I have seen this issue rear its head is in the case of living-and-learning communities.
