Hosting one or more students on site can open their eyes to the reality of what it is like in a variety of settings, industries and careers. We invite you to consider options such as Intern for a Day & Career Shuttles.

Intern for a Day

Intern for a Day, through the University of Maryland University Career Center & The President's Promise, connects current undergraduate UMD students with alumni, parents, and employers for short-term job shadowing opportunities to explore potential career fields. In fall 2021, we are bringing back our in-person job shadowing experience to  help expose students to potential career fields!

Register here to serve as a host for Intern for a Day

Deadline to register: Friday, September 10, 2021

**To offer an in-person job shadowing experience, the host must be reporting to a physical office/workplace and not teleworking the day the student job shadows.  At this time, we are only requesting hosts in Maryland, DC, & Virginia for in-person job shadowing.

Not interested in offering in-person job shadowing?  In the registration form above, there will be an opportunity to express interest in connecting with students through virtual informational interviews, too. Open to professionals anywhere globally!

More details about serving as an Intern for a Day host can be found here.

Career Shuttles/Site Visits

We are always looking for interesting sites to bring a group of students and faculty/staff to visit.  During these tours, the host employer typically arranges a tour and opportunities to hear firsthand from current employees, including interns, about their roles.  If interested, please contact Allynn Powell.
