Hosting one or more students on site can open their eyes to the reality of what it is like in a variety of settings, industries and careers. We invite you to consider options such as Intern for a Day & Career Shuttles.

Intern for a Day

Intern for a Day connects current UMD undergraduate students with alumni, parents/family members, and employers for short-term job shadowing opportunities to explore potential career fields.  In the 2018-2019 academic year, 300+ hosts in a wide variety of fields and industries hosted almost 750 UMD students through this program.  Intern for a Day is very popular with Terps!

Fall 2019 Host Registration is Now Open!

Fields in high demand with our students through this program include healthcare, communication, law/legal affairs, engineering, public policy, non-profit, and social services.  However, we welcome all fields!

Check out our Intern for a Day Host Guide which describes the program's timeline and insight on how to make the most of your time with our students.

Career Shuttles/Site Visits

We are always looking for interesting sites to bring a group of students and faculty/staff to visit.  During these tours, the host employer typically arranges a tour and opportunities to hear firsthand from current employees, including interns, about their roles.  If interested, please contact Allynn Powell.
