Career Shuttle: Mary's Center
Join us on a Career Shuttle site visit to the Mary’s Center in Washington DC! This career shuttle is for students who are interested in working towards healthcare access for all, especially minority populations in a supportive clinical setting. All undergraduate and graduate majors are welcome, but students majoring in family science, psychology, community health, and public health science may be particularly interested.
Mary’s Center (https://www.maryscenter.org/) is a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides health care, family literacy and social services to individuals whose needs too often go unmet by the public and private systems. Mary’s Center uses a holistic, multipronged approach to help each participant access individualized services that set them on the path toward good health, stable families, and economic independence. The Center offers high-quality, professional care in a safe and trusting environment to residents from the entire DC metropolitan region.
The focus of this trip will be on healthcare, education, and community support. This Shuttle will include an organizational overview, as well as a tour of the Center’s facilities. We will also hear from current employees working in the following units: Development and Communications, Community Health Research & Training Department (CHRTD), and Briya Public Charter School. Also, hear from Human Resources to learn about current job and internship opportunities!
Space is limited, so in order to confirm your participation, you must submit an RSVP. The University Career Center’s "no show" policy will be enforced. If you find you cannot attend this event, please contact Shannon Felice (email@example.com) so that someone from the waiting list may take your spot.
Once you have RSVP'd and received a confirmation email, please plan to meet in the University Career Center & The President's Promise (3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing) at 9:00 a.m. We will depart promptly by bus and return to campus by1:00 p.m. You will be asked to sign a waiver prior to departure and you must be 18 years or older to consent.
