Factors to consider for hosting or participating in events:
Your Goals: Are you looking to build brand awareness, source for talent or simply share your expertise with students? Getting clear on these questions help determine how best to spend your time and energy.
Timing: Awareness of the UMD academic calendar is vital when considering when to host an event.
Desired target audience: Are there particular groups of students you hope to engage? Class levels, academic majors, identities.
Format: What format might best encourage the outcomes your team is seeking in connecting with UMD students? While the traditional “information session” with a powerpoint deck has been the most common form of event, it does not always prove to be the most beneficial. Consider more creative ways of engagement and interaction.
