Are you considering further study after completing your degree at the University of Maryland? The decision to pursue  a master's or a doctoral degree is an important one. Earning another degree now, may or may not be the best next step for you or your career.

In this workshop, we will discuss:

  1. Questions to ask yourself to ensure that graduate school is the next step for you.

  2. How to research graduate programs based on your interest area(s).

  3. Financial considerations when applying to graduate school, including graduate assistantships, fellowships, and other external funding.

  4. Best practices when submitting your application, including how to write a personal statement.

  5. How to request letters of recommendation from professors and other professional colleagues.

  6. Some alternatives to graduate school if you are unsure, including gap year programs.

**Please note: while this workshop will highlight broad stroke differences between specialized career tracks such as medical school and law school application processes, it will not consist of in-depth information on those application cycles. Please connect with the Reed-Yorke Health Professions Advising Office and Pre-Law Advising for more detailed information on those two processes.
