Location: University Career Center (3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing)
All students interested in participating in Intern for a Day can choose to attend one of two options to meet the mandatory orientation requirement:
- Option A: Attend one in-person orientation OR
- Option B: Complete the virtual, asynchronous orientation available on September 22.
Below is more information about one of the two in-person orientation options which take place on Tues, Sept 23 from 5:30-6:30pm and Wed, Oct 8 from 12:15-1:15pm (choose one).
The University Career Center's popular Intern for a Day program connects undergraduate UMD students with professionals (including alumni, parents/family members, and other off-campus partners) for in-person job shadowing or virtual informational interviewing experiences to explore potential career fields of interest. After participating in a mandatory orientation and completing an application, University Career Center staff will match you with a professional of interest for a half or full-day job shadowing experience or a virtual informational interview.
Completion of the 30-45 minute orientation is required for UMD undergraduate students to receive access to the Intern for a Day student application each semester.
What to Expect
The purpose of this mandatory orientation is to give University of Maryland undergraduate students insight into how the Intern for a Day process works and how to best prepare for a job shadowing and virtual informational interviewing opportunity if we are able to match you with a professional through the program.
All in-person orientations are held in the University Career Center, 3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing.
π¨At this time, we can only offer this experience to undergraduate students only). π¨
