Join the University Career Center's Employer Relations team for Networking in a Hybrid/Remote Environment, an interactive virtual workshop designed to help Terps develop practical strategies for building and maintaining professional relationships in today's evolving workplace.

Location: Virtual

Building professional relationships can look very different when your colleagues, supervisors, and professional network may be miles, or even time zones, away. How do you build meaningful connections when you aren't regularly sharing an office? How can you make yourself visible, expand your network, and develop professional relationships in a hybrid or fully remote workplace?

Join the University Career Center's Employer Relations team for Networking in a Hybrid/Remote Environment, an interactive virtual workshop designed to help Terps develop practical strategies for building and maintaining professional relationships in today's evolving workplace.

The session will be led by David Williams, Operations Manager at Lenovo, who has worked completely remote since joining the organization as an intern in 2020. David successfully transitioned from intern to full-time employee and has continued to advance professionally while working in a virtual environment. He holds a bachelor's degree in business and a master's degree in information science and is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2027.

During this workshop, students will explore topics such as:

  • Building authentic relationships with colleagues and supervisors in virtual and hybrid environments
  • Establishing a professional presence and staying visible while working remotely
  • Using networking to support professional development and career growth
  • Navigating the transition from college to increasingly hybrid and remote professional environments

Whether you are preparing for an internship, starting your first full-time position, currently working remotely, or simply want to become a more confident networker, this session will provide strategies you can carry with you throughout your career.

Come prepared to participate, ask questions, and rethink what it means to "network" when the people you want to connect with may not be in the room.

This workshop is part of the University Career Center's College to Career Series.
