Daimler Truck – CSG Hackathon 2022

Thumbnail: Daimler Truck North America

What: A three (3) day hackathon event.

Where: Daimler Truck’s headquarters in Portland, Oregon. There will be a remote participation option as well.

Who: There will be 12-15 teams of five (5) participants each, identified through the submission process below.

When: Deadline for the proposal is June 27, 2022, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Note: each team member must submit a signed Participation Agreement in order for DTNA to consider the team's proposal.

Notice of selected participants: The CSG Hackathon Committee will review all proposals and will notify the selected participants by July 1, 2022. For this event, DTNA will only accept 12-15 teams.

About the Organizer: Daimler Truck North America (https://www.daimlertruck.com) is the largest heavy-duty truck manufacturer in North America (through the Freightliner and Western Star brands), as well as an autonomous truck and telematics developer.

Details: Our Connectivity Services Group (CSG) develops advanced telematics for the 500,000+ trucks with such capability around the world. These high-performance vehicles generate roughly 2,000,000 messages per minute (!), including data from GPS, engine, and oil gauge data, among others.

This event’s primary challenge is what to do with this data. For the purpose of this hackathon, nine (9) problem statements have been identified and participating teams will choose one (1) to solve. Subsequently, they will develop their solution and present it by the deadline on Sunday. While the solution need not be a finished product at the end of three days, it must still be “runnable code”.

Prizes: The top-three ranked teams will receive monetary prizes, ranging between $7,000 and $15,000.
