Are you considering further study after completing your degree at the University of Maryland? The decision to pursue a master's or a doctoral degree is an important one. Earning another degree now, may or may not be the best next step for you or your career.
In this workshop, we will discuss:
- Questions to ask yourself to ensure that graduate school is the next step for you.
- How to research graduate programs based on your interest area(s).
- Financial considerations when applying to graduate school, including graduate assistantships, fellowships, and other external funding.
- Best practices when submitting your application, including how to write a personal statement.
- How to request letters of recommendation from professors and other professional colleagues.
- Some alternatives to graduate school if you are unsure, including gap year programs.
**Please note: while this workshop will highlight broad stroke differences between specialized career tracks such as medical school and law school application processes, it will not consist of in-depth information on those application cycles. Please connect with the Reed-Yorke Health Professions Advising Office and Pre-Law Advising for more detailed information on those two processes.
