Location: Virtual on Handshake
Career readiness for our students with disabilities includes understanding how to manage a disability in the workplace. Beyond the disclosure decision, students need to consider:
1. What are the specific impacts of the disability that will affect work performance?;
2. What accommodations will support success on the job?;
3. How to negotiate disability with supervisors and co-workers; and
4. How strong their self-advocacy and self-determination skills are.
Being ready to manage a disability in the workplace begins while you are here on campus. This workshop will help you to prepare to transition successfully from campus to career as a student with a disability.
This workshop will be conducted virtually on a monthly basis. If this date doesn’t work for you, check out Handshake for future offerings, including all topics in our "How to..." monthly workshop series: How to (1) build your network, (2) search for an internship or job, (3) prepare for an interview, (4) be career ready as a BIPOC Terp, (5) apply to graduate school, (6) evaluate & negotiate job offers, and (7) disclose a disability to an employer.
