Consider the following to identify and begin networking with UMD alumni:

Join LinkedIn

After joining LinkedIn, request to join the University of Maryland College Park Official group, where you will find over 220,000 other UMD alumni!
Once you are a member of LinkedIn, use the top navigation bar to select “My Network” and in that drop-down, select “Find Alumni” which will default to your most recent university affiliation.  (If you have received an additional degree from another university post-UMD, you will need to select “Change university “ enter the University of Maryland College Park into the search box.)  You will now have access to alumni and will be able to sort by 6 fields:  Where they live; Where they work; What they do; and on the next page (look for the grey arrow along the right side of the screen) to then see: What they studied; What they’re skilled at; and How you are connected.  Lastly, you can scroll below your results to see pictures and profiles of alumni who meet your prefered selections.

Join the Maryland Alumni Association

You can then see how to connect with chapters by regions; by academic networks; and by affinity and special interest networks.   Access and use the Terrapins Connect, a free resource available to members of the Maryland Alumni Association.  Jointly sponsored by the Maryland Alumni Association and the University Career Center & The President’s Promise, this resource provides access to over 1,000 alumni representing a range of professions and industries.  You can connect with them to get career advice, mock interview opportunities and resume critiques.  Additionally, there is a library of videos you can access for career insights and how to’s.
