Check out this Internship Guide for Employers to help you learn how to create or enhance an internship program for University of Maryland, College Park students. You will read tips on what makes an experience an internship, best practices for internships, how to successfully host a virtual intern, and how to connect with our students. To increase awareness of the opportunities your organization offers, consider participating in our popular Intern for a Day program. In the 2018-2019 academic year, 750+ students were matched with participating hosts!
The Maryland Technology Internship Program (MTIP) helps Maryland retain top talent by increasing the number of paid technical internships offered in the state. Funded by the State of Maryland, the program offers financial assistance to technology-based businesses, as well as state and local agencies, to hire more interns.
Internship funding is now available to technology-based businesses and state and local agencies offering paid internships. Preference will be given to employers seeking interns to fill technical and creative roles that require science, technology, engineering, and/or math (STEM) skills. The Maryland Technology Internship Program can reimburse employers for up to 50% of an intern’s wage and up to $3,000 annually per intern ($1,800 for the first semester and $1,200 for subsequent semester).
